Along with Phil Harding , I'd like to see Raksha join the new time team on UA-cam 👍
What a great episode. One of those occasions when you wish they'd had three months not three days.
I love Tony's shirts.
36:06 crunchy bar steel hahaha. ive only ever heard it called sponge iron/steel. in replica melts, what happens is, you crack the bloom out of the door and onto a big stump, or in some cases an outdoor anvil, and you hit it half force or so with big ole sledges. at first it sounds like your open palm slapping clay. but after a few hits you suddenly hear TINK! and then you move on to compacting another part until you again hear the tink of iron/steel. you keep turning over the bloom with tongs as needed until youve compacted it as much as possible or the heat of the furnace is gone. then you cut chunks off, hammer into a rectangle, then draw out into a flat length, fold, and draw out again. and again. and again. and eventually you have wrought iron, or moderately pure mild steel as the case may be. when he pointed into the furnace, right where his hand was, would have been about 1300c when the furnace was in operation. what a treat to see the remains of a historic one.
I think it is a mistake to say neolithic people put much effort to dig ditches since we dont know how much time that enclosure existed. If you have an enclosure from about 6500 years ago that stood for a hundred years then it very well could be that they dug a single ditch every 1 or 2 years or so. Even if they dug it in a few years. Is it really that much effort for a tribe of a 1-200 people? Or even for a single extended family? We also shouldn't think that stone tools were valuable. Experienced people can knap a nice arrowhead or knife in 15 minutes or so. There is no reason to think that they were not considered disposable.
I hadn’t seen this one. Very mysterious location. I wish they had found more; alas such is the way with archaeology.
I’ve probably said it before but these episodes are priceless. It’s like spending an hour with good friends. I know many of them have passed on but in the moment while I’m watching they are all alive and well. ❤
Did the even talk about Grubenhäuser in that clip?
I wonder how many miles to kilometers the Geophys team has walked of England entirely Wish my it would be an interesting tidbit to find out how much of England they've actually walked And still have yet to go now they've got the machines that can drive them around but poor John and Stuart dave's done a lot and their team and there's sore and tired feet.
Love the classics.
So Burning Man goes back to the ancient times! Not originated in the California Desert??!!
Thank you lads. This is something that has been bothering me too recently. I sort of worked my way through it, with faith....though I hadn't realised I had this faith. I love the idea of facing these issues head on with study, research and faith...thank you.
I love England. And the whole British isles.
Why??
@@ORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLAR13 it's beauty and history. It's been key to building European Civilisation.
@@evolassunglasses4673 Fair point 👍
It is eternally shocking to me how close below the surface all of this archaeology is in the UK. I mean, less than a foot underground there's wall structure for an entire building!
Don't think I've seen this one??
Me too. Anyone know which episode this is??
@@SusiAddiscottgovernor's green, season 17.
Kind of a silly question but does anyone know what kind of trays the team is using for collecting the artifacts? I see the are perforated but are they specifically made for archeology?
As a child I lived on Fort Street...next to where the Fort is. The site of the remade entrance to the Fort wad previously a school called "Baring Steet School " . As a very young person in the 1960s I would often go to the local antique shops where there were always Roman coins for sale....they were very common then. Across the road from the school were what were simply called the "bombed buildings "....from WW2. I used to play in them and search for anything of interest. The area has changed significantly but I still have fond memories.
Not bad both, keep um coming and best of luck
Hillary and Monica???? As in Clinton and Lewinsky???? WOW What kind of Piggy's were those?
Love the classics.
Thank you, very much for taking us on a video tour of the Temple Mount! Moat appreciated.
That Helena woman is such a cold fish.
Is that a choropleth map at 3 minutes in?
Complaining cos it's dry. Complaining cos it's wet. Can't get more British than this
They always expect to find things at the bottom of the trench. I can tell you now, that if my mom was in charge back then, every scrap of anything would be cleaned away...
I might have thought, that some mention would have been made, of the reenactor that was mortally wounded during filming. According to Wikipedia, there was an episode where a joust was reenacted. Someone was wounded, & died later. I'd name that as a tragic episode.
Rest in peace Mick. 😊
I love this series. So good.
Why only 3 days ?
Okay but...Phil's fingernails are creepy
rip mic
1:12 baldrick just cant help it with the euphemisms 😅
Will be interesting watching you bring life back to the chateau and park. Thank you for sharing.
what do you call a skeleton in the freezer?..............Bone chilling, bahahahahaha
That is absolutely terrible....🤣🤣🤣🤣
i remember watching that first episode before and just marveling that some previous owner of the house would just randomly find chunks of human skull in the garden all the time and just think "well guess i will go put these in the little cabinet in the garden house". of course i live in the U.S.. finding a bunch of skulls in your garden here would almost certainly be far more sinister.
BRING FAY SIMPSON BACK!
Odd to assume that a Viking raid destroyed a stone church or cloister. Vikings were primarily thieves, not known for building anything.. Building churches, and tearing them down, requires work. A lot of work. Not something Vikings were ever known for doing.

Off topic but, at 18:43, into the video, is that little white and black dog a Jack Russel. My dog looks a lot like it...
Blythburgh is where i got my late lamented little dog from.A lovely place.
Love Time Team but don't understand the point of these compilation videos. Each individual episode was a wonderful piece of work and should be remembered as such in its entirety. Cherry picking segments from unrelated digs under a click bait title is getting a little boring for me now.
I think it’s to inspire people to go watch the full episodes.
Found the above 50 viewer who don’t get modern times.
Friendly old Brit: They are nice snapshots for us transplanted Brits in NZ.
@Evilminiature I'm certainly under 50 and I agree with him whole heartedly. The problem is with the current generation and thier concentration levels, anything more than ten minutes long and they want to click on to the next shiny video! It's a terrible thing actually...
It’s to get around copyright issues, and to ensure a consistent flow of content to ensure a consistent flow of income.
3:12 that was classic Phil!! Love this show, the team, and some day I'd like to buy Phil a pint! 🍻
If you used 1:50000 or 1:25000 maps, you can use grid coordinates.
21:17 MANGANESE?! Phil's delivery on that word is hilarious. I've been randomly saying it at home for years. Gotta make it my text notification sound or something.
Tony on the horse was so cute! 😂
Thank you.
Phil:Oh that's crackin!! Or...look at that!! Or better yet,..Oh, would ya look at that!! And finally, Uh-haa-haa-haa-haa-haaaaaa.... WE BLOODY LOVE YA UNCLE PHIL!!! U Guys are all around a "cracking" group!!🥰🤣✌️🍻🤟
You forgot "Ooo - Aaaah!"
@@spud2go I told time team they need "Ooo-Aaaah" merch
1st!! YAY!!love ya TIME TEAM!!🤪✌️🍻
I've watched this several times, and remain puzzled. How is it that the installers of those wind turbines saw nothing on their site surveys, and found nothing while excavating to facilitate the installations?
My guess is, they are not archeologists.🙄
